Shocked Shocked Shocked Wow, I'm absolutely shocked to see Betterman (one of the weirdest, most obscure shows I've seen) getting a 20th aniversary release... and actually having some decent sales...

More notably, Mysteria Friends looks like it's pulling in excellent numbers. Not a big seller any week, but the first volume pulling in more than 2k on its 9th week for more than 21k total, and the second volume topping 20k as well. . . those are the kind of numbers that guarantee a sequel if the producers want to go that route.

(Wonder if some kind of promotion was involved?)

Your answer is the Granblue Fantasy codes bundled with the two Blu-ray volumes, I do not know why Cygames has not been denounced by unfair competition.

Why Shield Hero sales are too low ?! Much lower than Slime blu-ray sales

I hope it gets 2nd season, but with these lower sales it might not happen Mad

Because Cygames is well known for being generous that nobody would want to denounce them.

Well, I am not fan of isekai, but shiedhero is one of the most popular winter shows on Crunchyroll. Streaming revenue are very important maybe even more important than discs sales. I wonder how popular ShieldHero is at Japan/China streaming sites.

Man, ZombielandSaga is still killing it... to hopefully rise again for Season2!
Granted, the release of the music tracks with the BDs might've also helped.

Most likely because it was interesting/controversial enough for people to watch and talk about it, but not actually good enough to warrant rewatches and BluRay purchases.

Because it's NOT an unfair competition, as some kind bonuses like event tickets and drama CD are included in the most DVD/BD releases in Japan and any other publishers can do it as part of the sales promotion. It's just the GBF popularity by itself, not to mention the Manaria characters introduced as GBF part two years ago.

Yes, everyone and their mother follow the suit of "if you buy this Blu-ray then you will get tickets to an event with the voice actresses" and I am just fine with that, after all those are events with people that worked directly on the anime and you can get nice insights about the series thanks to those talk shows, meanwhile you have Cygames putting codes of GBF on Blu-ray volumes of series hardly related, being daddy Cygames the only connection between the game and the anime. A series must sell by own merits, not to be artificially inflated with codes to gacha games.

I agree, there is nothing wrong with the fact that authors make their work more commercially attractive, especially if this doesn't affect the plot itself. The only thing you can complain about is that it is difficult to say how much they could sell without bonuses.

It sounds like you're just upset that their game is popular enough to not only support itself but also an anime. Being based on/part of a wildly successful game franchise IS part of Mysteria's merit. Most anime is part of a larger franchise already and all parts of the franchise rely on each other, some more than others, to make money as a whole. Like Fate, Madoka, literally any adaptation of anything(manga, novel, picture book, music, etc) ever created, etc.
