Why would you assume anything is 2 cours these days? It's become quite uncommon unless it's split.

Also if it's episodic (though we don't know this yet) series, one cour fits quite well.

That's not true, it just depends on the series. Shounens are more likely to get 2 cour since they are generally based off long series and are harder to find an end point - romcoms are generally quite easy to cut off.

This is likely going to be more seinen-y so 1 cour or two are both quite valid, (Psycho-pass is 2cour for example) but anime original series have never commonly been 2cour as it's such a big risk.

NTV was the Lupin III series and Fujiko Mine broadcaster, as well as Parasyte, so I hope Death Parade will be uncensored

In today's world (and especially in Japan's current economic state), a 1 cour show is one of the safest bets Production Committees can take.

Most of this season's shows are 1 cour
* Examples:
Amagi Brilliant Park
Sora no Method
Denki-gai no Honya-san
Grisaia no Kajitsu
Gugure! Kokkuri-san
Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de
Terra Formars
Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru, and many many more.

There are less 2-cour shows, either continuous or split. Such as:
Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works
Cross Ange: Tenshi to Ryuu no Rondo
Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu
Shirobako.

* Apparently the show World Trigger will be 50 episodes, so it's the extreme exception *

My point is, Death Parade being a 1-cour show is what I expected it to be. I would've been surprised if the show were to be a 2-cour one.

Expected it to be 1-cour, not dissapointed really. Funny how I just stumbled one this news only minutes after watching Death Billiards.

I assume this is going to be an episodic anime instead of an arc-based plot.

I assumed that the second I heard it was getting a TV series, it's just what the Anime Mirai short felt like: a new pair comes in and the hosts treat it as just another day at the office. It would be really cool if it developed into something with a longer arc.
