You mean to tell me that C3 has been in Funimation's backlog for over 5 years and now they are going to release it as a sub only...huh the days of everything getting dubbed by them is over.

Its been over for quite awhile, they still dub 98% of everything they release which is what I love about them but they are attempting to branch more titles like Sentai does in addition to how an article not too long ago talked about how certain shows are forced upon licensees when they license other stuff so this makes it so they don't have to dub said show if it wasn't their intention to in the first place.

As a dub lover there's no other company I trust with dubs then Funi but its also nice to see a company license more stuff that otherwise wouldn't be.

Pleasantly surprised to know C3 is getting released. Definitely wasn't expecting that. I'm not surprised it's sub only and I usually pass over such releases, but C3 is greatly under appreciated and the light novels (all of which are available in English) were amazing.

They forgot to mention Date a Live S2, Psycho Pass S2, Brothers Conflict all got release dates now. Also the next sets of Fairy tail and One Piece got a date. Is Funimation finally catching up? -thinks of all the licenses they still have- yea not really lol.

I mean.. Im still waiting for: Maken Ki S2 dub , Banner of the Stars S1 +2, Crest of the Stars, Code Geass: Akito the Exiled (OAV) dub, ... Just to name a few xD

Can anyone answer me please? Why did Funi never finish D.Gray-man?

Kingdom never got a blu Ray release in Japan right? So I don't have to worry about buying the DVD set then they re-release it a year later on blu Ray?

Pretty subpar month of releases for me. I wish they would get around to releasing the Bandai license rescues(I know half of it has to do with not even getting the materials yet for some shows).

For the former Bandai titles, Justin Rojas stated on Anncast that they are still waiting for materials from Japan on many shows, so they basically have to sit and wait. Though Maken-ki 2 is something I'm also waiting for, along with the Steins;Gate movie, which is a bit annoying with all the new Steins;Gate stuff coming out in Japan.

As for D.Grayman, the answer to your question is that the series was a poor seller. If earlier season(s) don't sell well, they aren't going to keep it going, even if the people who did buy would gladly buy subsequent seasons. I've had to make peace with the fact that they won't release the rest of xxxHolic.

Eew, so I've to watch the last 50 episodes in subs then. I've xxholic on dvd but haven't watched it yet lol.

Seriously all former Bandai titles still waiting for materials?...

Well if we start with that... Strike witches movie dub, licening of Strike Witches 3 OVA, Licening of Norgami OVA, Highschool DAnime hyper OVA etc etc... I've to say in all honesty im more happy wih sentai atm, because if they release something it comes with the OVA episodes. Last summer Funimation had the golden opportunity with the blue ray release of Future Diary to get the OVA sequel episode...

Most of those (Maken-Ki is Kadokawa) are Sunrise titles and Sunrise has been very slow on the materials process. I expect that Code Geass and the Akito OVA to get released sometime this year.

D. Grey-man: While Funimation claims it was a license issue, it seems the truth of the matter is that it didn't sell enough for them to finish it.

EDIT: For what it's worth Kaze solicited the first 2 Akito OVAs for March 2016 in the UK, but since it's Kaze, it might get delayed for months on end.

Another release they didn't say was Eden of the East Premium Edition Blu-ray. Of all the old shows they could of put in a premium release this show wasn't coming up for me. Its not a bad show just kind of forgetable. Its short and once you see it the need to rewatch it is low. The Psycho Pass Season 2 Premium Edition looks nice same design to match the first box hope its not misshaped like the first though was and have to be replaced.

Got my hopes up...had a look, and it's only available through fan translations. Oh well. Personally, I prefer to keep my reading off screens...cause I stare at them enough as is, and reading is the only entertainment (apart from sport) that I part-take in that does not need a screen.

C3 was an anime I enjoyed, but one of the many that needs a 2nd season. And, since that won't be happening (I assume), not worth a pick up for me. I'm very much an ending kind of guy, where I could love the journey, but if the end doesn't fully satisfy, I'll never watch the anime again.

Another series that falls into the category for me is Crazy Shrine Maidens. Loved the journey, but the destination left too much to be desired.

So, now that a 4 year old anime series has finally gotten an announcement for a release, could a 2 year old movie get one too? Please? I'm still waiting on the Steins;Gate movie...

So what funi is on the sub only train now?

TheMorry wrote:

First half of the show was 50% filler, so didn't sell super well. The second half of the show, episodes 50-100, are all canon and very good. As a result, the licensing fee for the second half is very high and funimation does not want to pay that much because their filler season didn't do well.

I asked this question a few years back, here on this site, you can search it and we had some good discussions and facts on there.

I'm glad C Cubed is getting released but since it's sub only BD, I'm not buying it because I don't buy substandard products for my BD set up that are just the sub only streams. So nothing's changed for me. Peachy.

So, in accordance with Sentai's "I can't believe they dubbed {blank} and not this" selection process, here's a few of Funi's mistakes.

Aria the Scarlet Ammo
We Without Wings
The Dragon one.
The one with the stories about heroes. Wait, is that Legend of Legendary Heroes or do I mean Hero Tales? Trick question, it's both.

After years of waiting, I am kind of bitter about it. Beautiful show, shame we can't run it without the subs...
