Trivia:

Much like Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and most of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Casshern was filmed almost entirely on a digital backlot, wherein the actors were shot in front of blue/green screens and the computer-generated backgrounds were added during post-production.

In Dr. Kozuki's home, a helmet similar to the one worn by Go Mifune (Speed) from Mach Go Go Go (Speed Racer) is seen in the background. This is a reference to the late Tatsuo Yoshida, founder of Tatsunoko and creator of both Mach Go Go Go and Shinzo Ningen Casshan.

Sadly, this was Tatsuya Mihashi's last film, as he died of acute myocardial infarction on May 15, 2004.

Dr. Furoi's dog "Friender" is a reference to the original anime, wherein Tetsuya's dog Lucky was killed by robots and reborn into Friender, a cyborg dog that transformed into different vehicles and weapons.

Midori's "swan room" is another reference to the original anime, wherein Midori manifested herself into a mechanical swan.

The last film to be distributed by Go Fish Pictures before it was abolished in 2007.
