posted on by Andrew Osmond
New releases from Manga Entertainment and MVM.

On Monday September 8, Manga Entertainment will release its second collection of spinoff feature films from the One Piece series. The set consists of these three films: One Piece: Dead End no Bōken (aka One Piece The Movie: Dead End Adventure); One Piece: Norowareta Seiken (aka One Piece The Movie: The Cursed Holy Sword) and One Piece: Omatsuri Danshaku to Himitsu no Shima (aka One Piece The Movie: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island).

The Baron Omatsuri film was directed by Mamoru Hosoda, who later directed The Girl who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars and Wolf Children. All three films do not have English dubs, and are released in sub-only editions. The third collection of One Piece films is due on November 3.

Manga will also release the TV series Karneval on both Blu-ray (pictured) and DVD. The story was described by Funimation as follows: "Armed with only an abandoned bracelet as a clue, Nai searches for someone dear to him. After a run in with a pick-pocket named Gareki, the two find themselves involved in a government set-up that leaves them wanted criminals. Desperate and on-the-run, Nai and Gareki turn to the country's most powerful defense organization – “Circus” – for help."

Eiji Suganuma (Kodomo no Jikan, Mashiroiro Symphony - The color of lovers, Ninja Cadets, Sasameki Koto) directed the Spring 2013 anime of Touya Mikanagi's Karneval manga at Manglobe (Deadman Wonderland, Hayate the Combat Butler: Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Mashiroiro Symphony - The color of lovers, Ergo Proxy) and Touko Machida (THE IDOLM@STER, Lucky Star, Amnesia) handled the scripts. Toshie Kawamura (Yes! Precure 5, Smile Precure!, Mashiroiro Symphony - The color of lovers) served as the character designer and chief animation director for the series. GRANRODEO performed the opening theme song "Henai no Rondo."

MVM will release the series La storia della Arcana Famiglia. The anime adapts HuneX (VitaminX Addiction) and Comfort Soft's adventure game for female players. The story follows Arcana Famiglia, a self-appointed organization with mysterious powers that has protected a small Mediterranean island from pirates, foreign countries, and other threats. The only daughter of the family's "Papa," Felicitá, will be married to the next head of the family in two months — and the successor will be decided in a competition that Felicitá herself will take part in.

Chiaki Kon (When They Cry - Higurashi, Nodame Cantabile: Paris and Finale, Junjō Romantica) directed the series at J.C. Staff. Masanao Akahoshi (both Toaru Majutsu no Index series, Freezing) was in charge of the scripts, and Mai Matsuura (Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru) adapted from Yomi Sarachi's (Steins;Gate manga) original character designs for animation.
