Funimation to Release 1st Half of Gosick Anime on BD/DVD in May With Dub
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Funimation announced on Wednesday that it will release the Gosick anime on a Blu-ray Disc and DVD combo pack. The "Part 1" release, which contains the first 12 episodes, will ship on May 30. The release will have both Japanese and English audio.
Funimation teased the announcement on Tuesday.
Bandai Entertainment had licensed the anime in July 2011, before announcing that it would discontinue new releases in January the following year.
The anime adapted Kazuki Sakuraba's mystery novel series, in which Kazuya Kujo studies abroad at the Saint Marguerite Academy in a small European country in 1924. Kazuya joins forces with Victorique to solve mysteries. Victorique is a girl who skips class in order to read books, but has deductive powers that rival Sherlock Holmes'.
Crunchyroll streamed the 24-episode anime as it aired in Japan in 2011. Tokyopop released two of the original light novel volumes in North America.
