Ireland screenings of I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, Penguin Highway, Mirai

Screenings through April, venues include Galway, Cork, Dublin

The Japanese Film Festival in Ireland has announced its full schedule. It includes screenings of three anime films, listed below. The films are I want to eat your pancreas, Penguin Highway and Mirai.

I want to eat your pancreas (pictured right) features an unnamed male student who finds a diary in a hospital one day. The diary belongs to his classmate, a girl named Sakura Yamauchi, who is revealed to be suffering from a terminal illness in her pancreas. The protagonist is the only person apart from her family who knows about her condition. Despite their completely opposite personalities, the youngsters to be together during her last few months.

Penguin Highway (left) centers on fourth grader Aoyama (Kana Kita) and a mysterious older woman (Yū Aoi), who is a dental assistant and also Aoyama's first crush. When a swarm of penguins appears inexplicably in his quiet suburban neighborhood, Aoyama works to uncover the reason for their appearance.

Mamoru Hosoda's Mirai involves a spoiled four-year-old boy, KUN-chan, living in Japan. When KUN-chan gets a little sister named Mirai, he feels that his new sister stole his parents' love from him. Then he begins having a series of magic encounters, including meeting a teenage version of Mirai from the future.
