TOKYO, JAPAN – 22 March 2024 – As the countdown to Hikaru Utada's first greatest hits album SCIENCE FICTION enters its final three weeks, the artist surprises fans today with the surprise drop of a new mix of their debut song “Automatic,” titled “Automatic (2024 Mix).” This follows the recent news regarding the upcoming release of “Somewhere Near Marseilles (Sci-Fi Edit),” as well as a series of countdown campaign events, including the unveiling of 4K-enhanced music videos and digital zines.

“Automatic (2024 Mix)” and all other mixes on the forthcoming album were engineered by Grammy-winning mixing engineer Steve Fitzmaurice, presenting each song in a fresh light with crisper sounds.

In addition, as part of the countdown campaign, a 4K-remastered version of the music video for “Automatic” was also released yesterday, which is available to watch on YouTube (https://youtu.be/rJwLPcL2u3c?si=eW9jvllfPRXE5etv).

Furthermore, in conjunction with the surprise release of “Automatic (2024 Mix),” a special campaign for the album SCIENCE FICTION has started. Fans who pre-add the album on Apple Music, pre-save on Spotify, or pre-order on iTunes via the dedicated campaign page will have the chance to win a limited-edition SCIENCE FICTION sticker. A total of 300 people will be selected by lottery, and everyone who participates in the campaign will receive an original SCIENCE FICTION digital wallpaper.
